Learn more about the flu vaccine at FHI's website.
What is the name of the flu vaccine?
We use the flu vaccine that the government recommends for the year. It protects against the types of flu that one expects will dominate this year's season. Due to marketing rules for medicinal products, we cannot disclose the name of the vaccine here on the website, but you can simply ask us at customer support and we will help you.
Where can you get flu vaccination?
We come to their offices in Oslo, Bergen, Stavanger and Trondheim. We also vaccinate home visits.
Is there a minimum number of employees?
6 employees. If you need fewer vaccinations, you can book a home visit.
What do I do if I don't know how many vaccines we need?
Order the number you think. You guys only pay for the number of vaccines put (minimum 6 pcs).
In case of major changes in numbers, please feel free to contact us!
Do we have to pay for the vaccines if employees don't show up?
No, you only pay for set vaccines.
What do we need to do in connection with the vaccination?
We will arrange a time for vaccination. You can book a meeting room where the vaccination can take place. The employees book the desired time themselves.
I recently took the corona vaccine. Can I be vaccinated against the flu?
Yeah, it's going just fine.
Should I take the flu vaccine?
By taking the vaccine, you can avoid major periods of illness. Influenza causes illness that makes one normally bedridden for 3-10 days, and every year 10-30% of the population becomes ill.
Avoiding illness for both personal and professional life is something that most people benefit from. By vaccinating you also protect your relatives, if they are at risk. In addition, you help reduce the burden in the health care system.
You can read more at FHI's pages about who is in the risk group and thus recommended to take the flu vaccine every year.
Should I vaccinate my children?
Health authorities in Norway do not recommend influenza vaccination of healthy children without known risk factors. Children's flu vaccination, on the other hand, is recommended for children who:
- Are premature births, especially children born before week 32 of pregnancy, from 6 months to 5 years
- Have chronic lung disease (including asthma)
- Have cardiovascular disease
- Have type 1 and 2 diabetes
- Have liver or kidney failure
- Have chronic neurological disease or injury, especially people with reduced lung capacity and/or coughing force
- Have impaired immune system as a result of illness or treatment of disease (for example, organ transplants, cancer, HIV, rheumatoid arthritis and other diseases)
- Have very severe obesity
- Other serious and/or chronic illness in which influenza poses a serious health risk after individual assessment by a physician (for example, people with congenital chromosomal abnormalities, genetic syndromes, and complex chromosomal abnormalities not elsewhere classified)
I'm pregnant. Can I take the flu vaccine?
There is no research to suggest that flu vaccine harms the fetus, and the flu vaccine is considered safe to take throughout pregnancy.
It is recommended to take the vaccine for pregnant women in the 2nd and 3rd trimesters, as well as pregnant women in the 1st trimester with other additional risks.
I have known antibiotic allergies. Can I take the vaccine?
Both types of flu vaccine contain traces of antibiotics. Vaxigriptetra contains traces of Neomycin, and Influvac Tetra traces of Gentamicin. Always tell your doctor about a drug allergy to the health care provider who will vaccinate you.
Are there side effects to the flu vaccine?
Yes, the flu vaccine can cause side effects. 1 in 5 get sore in the shoulder. 1 in 10 may feel slightly reduced the day after vaccination, some also get a little fever. This goes away within 1-2 days. The other side effects are much more rare.
Can you get the flu from the vaccine?
You can't get the flu from the vaccine, and you don't get long-term sick. You can get side effects that last for a couple of days. If you hear of someone getting worse than this, they have something else underlying that has nothing to do with the vaccine. Research doesn't give us the coating to say otherwise. If you have more doubts about this, please refer to the Norwegian Institute of Public Health's website.
Does the vaccine protect against the corona?
No, the vaccine protects against viruses that cause the flu. It is not possible to distinguish influenza and corona based on clinical symptoms alone. However, you are protected from double contagion, as it is possible to get both the corona and the flu at the same time.
Why do you need personal information in your consent form?
The personal data is used to register the vaccine in SYSLAB, the national database for vaccines. This is important so that both you and your healthcare provider can see which vaccines you have taken. The personal data is stored encrypted in our database and is only visible to the healthcare professional on assignment.
Do I have to wait at the vaccination site for 20 minutes after the vaccine is taken?
One in a million may have an allergic reaction. We have with medical equipment to safely be able to deal with such incidents. A very few may have a drop in blood pressure for various reasons and therefore pass out. It would be nice if we were around to help.
At a minimum, in any case, you must:
- Stay among people, do not sit alone
- Stay in the building, don't move out
Can I exercise the same day I take the vaccine?
Yes, you can work out. But we recommend that you avoid a hard session as well as shoulder exercises.
